I’ll be experimenting with an ultrasonic MEMS microphone for sound activated recording this year. Check back later in the year for updates.
Details about making a bat simulator have been added. This project is for an Arduino based device that emits ultrasonic test pulses that can be to used check the functioning of a bat detector.
I’m experimenting with sound activated recording using SoX….no hours of silence in the recorded files – just bat calls 🙂
Here’s a photo of my waterproof microphone – an electret poking out of the bottom of a small funnel which is wrapped in cling film, and sealed using self-amalgamating tape. The cling film doesn’t seem to make any noticeable difference to the recordings.
Further details can be found on the Sound Activated Recording page.
Updates made to site. Contact, Spectrograms and Learn pages added. Multi-function bat recorder/detector page updated.
This site is under construction while I add more information about building a bat recorder and bat detector using a Raspberry Pi, and more information than on my previous page.
